No system guarantees long-term roulette winnings – not even Martingale

It took me a while to realize for myself that there is probably no roulette system that can help a roulette player make consistent and guaranteed winnings. Also in my case the Martingale system was quickly limited and after the first initial wins I had to experience painfully that one cannot always rely on probabilities and therefore, if things go badly, can lose more than 100 Euros with only one bet.

But first let’s get back to the functionality of the Martingale System: The Martingale System is based on the functional principle that the players double the stake after a loss. The basic idea: With an approximate winning chance of 50:50 (if you only bet on the colors red and black or on the even or odd numbers) it cannot take too long until you win a prize and leave the game cycle with a positive balance.

For a long time this system actually seemed to work, as long as I only started with sufficiently small amounts. But at some point I also had the point where the wrong color appeared more than 7 times in the kettle. Finally I had to double to more than 100 Euro, only to finally win a total of 1 Euro.

When I was also wrong for the 8th time and my predicted color did not appear in the kettle, I reached the table limit and lost from now on a high three-digit amount. Of course I was devastated, I didn’t want to admit that I was so often wrong with my prognosis.
